Sports Therapy

Pre-Requisites:

ITEC Anatomy, Physiology & Massage Diploma.

The Certificate:

This Course encompasses specific massage techniques for the treatment of sports injuries. It also covers strapping, bandaging, ice and heat techniques as well as full range of remedial exercises and sports nutrition. 

Day 1:

The role of a Sports Massage Therapist, Ethics, Anatomy and Physiology with the emphasis on the joints, Contra-indications, Manual Massage Techniques, Palpitations, Neuro-Muscular Facilitation, Strain and Counter-Strain, Mechanical Massage, PRICE Principle, Infrared, Bandaging and Strapping Injuries.

Day 2:

Key Injuries: Exercise Strengthening, Stretching, Mobility, Frequency and Duration, Nutrition-Diet Changes for Sports Persons and Elite Athletes.

Homework:

Complete Training Manual for Sports Massage and Nutrition, Revise A & P and submit tests to schedule provided, Obtain Personal First Aid Certificate, Complete 12 Case Studies over a Range of Injuries together with Evaluation.

Day 3:

Discuss and Check Homework, Mock Paper (2 Hours), Practical Treatment of injuries with Oral Questioning.

The written and practical examination taken will be the ITEC.

ITEC Sports Qualifications enable certificate holders to work: with Sports Teams, at Sports Clubs and Gyms, along side Physiotherapists, in Heath Clinics, on Health Farms, in Holiday Centres, on Cruise Liners, and as Personal Trainers.
